Albania Aligns With U.S. and Israel on Iran

Albania announced its alignment with the United States and Israel regarding Iran following recent escalations in the Middle East. Prime Minister Edi Rama stated that the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) should be officially designated a terrorist organization and that Albania would take steps to list it as such, citing the country’s own experience with cyberattacks attributed to Iran-linked groups. Rama emphasized the need for action over words, aligning Albania’s stance with support for Israel and the United States’ military support.

He connected this position to Albania’s direct experience with the Tehran regime’s cyber aggression, framing it as a matter of national security. Albania intends to formally recognize the IRGC as a terrorist organization and urged European nations to take similar action. Furthermore, Prime Minister Rama expressed support for efforts to prevent Iran from developing military capabilities that could threaten regional stability.

Following missile strikes against multiple Gulf states, Rama praised Saudi Arabia and Qatar, highlighting their leadership and the coordinated interceptions of the missiles as a decisive demonstration of strength and unity. He asserted that attacks on critical infrastructure and civilian areas represent a threat to regional stability and prosperity. Rama concluded by expressing solidarity with Kuwait and Bahrain, emphasizing the indivisibility of security within the Gulf region.

Former Albanian deputy prime minister Genc Pollo stated that the United States and Israel’s actions targeted a regime posing a threat extending beyond the Middle East, including Europe and Albania.
